WMPC is the chartered organization for Boy Scout Troop 395 (“Troop 395”) of the Boy Scouts of America (“Boy Scouts”) and associated Webelos Pack 395 (“Pack 395”), with a history of serving its members and the community at large through Scouting. In keeping with this history, WMPC and the adult leadership of Troop 395 and Pack 395 (the “Committee”) welcome applications for admittance from and admit any eligible youth, subject to capacity constraints.
Troop 395 meets in Pickard Hall on Tuesdays from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. during the school year except on days when Wake County Public Schools are closed.
Troop 395 is a large and active troop, and many of our Scouts have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. In addition to meeting weekly, Troop 395 sponsors numerous events and outings each year, which often include:
• Service projects such as Stop Hunger Now at WMPC
• Participation in Scout Sunday at WMPC
• Camping and swimming at Kerr Lake
• Special outings to national landmarks and exhibits
• Beach camping, fishing, backpacking and hiking at various State Parks
• Camping and cycling on the New River Trail
• Summer Camp at Camp Raven Knob
• High Adventure at Philmont (New Mexico), Sea Base (Florida) and Northern Tier (Minnesota)
Note that due to capacity constraints and to help with planning, fall enrollment for Boy Scouts is taking place through May 31, 2019. If interested in joining in the Fall of 2019, please complete an application, and mail it and a $100 check made payable to Boy Scout Troop 395, to Matt Walker at 3100 Darien Drive, Raleigh, NC 27607.
Note that our written enrollment procedures call for higher prioritization to be given to WMPC members, current Troop 395 scouts and Webelos, and siblings. If you have any questions regarding the Troop or would like more information about the enrollment process, please contact Mark Griffith, the Chartered Organization Liaison. He can explain the admittance procedures for Troop 395 and Pack 395 and/or direct you to the appropriate Committee contact. Contact: Mark Griffith
Webelos is designed for boys starting in the 4th grade and offers an excellent opportunity to learn the foundational skills for Boy Scouts.
Pack 395 meets in the Knox Building (K305) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays during the school year except on days when Wake County Public Schools are closed. Pack 395 is a large and active pack that participates in many of the Troop organized service events, camping trips, and other activities in addition to the always fun Pinewood Derby. Most of the Webelos bridge into Troop 395 as Scouts.
Enrollment for the fourth grade class in Webelos will be conducted in mid to late August. If you have any questions or would like to express interest in joining the program, please contact Matt Walker. A parent meeting will be held the first Thursday night following the start of Wake County Public Schools. Contact: Matt Walker
