Tom Harris loves God and people. His greatest joy and peace are found in either and especially with both.
Born and raised in southern California, Tom graduated from University of California at Irvine with a degree in history. After several years in the business world he met his wife, Meredith. Shortly after marriage, they moved east where Tom earned his M.Div. at Princeton Theological Seminary. During the years at Princeton and in ordained ministry their family has grown to include three children, a son in law, and two, rambunctious Golden Retrievers. In 2009 Tom returned to Princeton completing his Doctorate in Ministry where he explored the many ways that people encounter God. Throughout his twenty years of ministry he has served churches in North Augusta, SC, in Vero Beach, FL, and in Raleigh, NC. Meredith owns her own Aesthetic Medicine practice in Raleigh.
In addition, to Pastoral Care for White Memorial Presbyterian Church, Tom provides Spiritual Direction, Church Support, and Corporate Chaplaincy, through the North Raleigh Center of Spirituality, which he founded. As a Spiritual Director, he specializes in exploring and enriching his clients’ connection to the God. In providing Church Support, Tom serves as part-time stated supply for a small congregation in Raleigh. And as a Corporate Chaplain, Tom offers confidential emotional, social, and spiritual support to employees of companies that he serves.
Some fun facts about Tom are that he enjoys camping and hiking and gardening, serves as chair of our presbytery’s personnel committee, and he can speak German (sorta-kinda-fluently).
