A shining example of Wake County’s rich history is the Joel Lane House (“JLH”) in Raleigh. It is the oldest house in the county and originally sat on several thousand acres of woods and farmland. One thousand acres were purchased from Joel Lane in 1792 to make Raleigh the new capital of North Carolina. After Mr. Lane’s first wife died, he married her sister, Mary. Please join us for Women in 18th Century Raleigh presented by Lanie Hubbard, Executive Director of JLH, as we delve into what eighteenth century life was like for these two Raleigh sisters. Our own Gloria Johnson will accompany Ms. Hubbard. Enjoy not only this delightful story, but also hear Gloria’s perspective as a volunteer house docent. We thank Circle M for hosting the event. Throughout March and into April PW is collaborating with churchwide Outreach to prepare Easter baskets. Baskets contain a list of items from which to select to fill. Choose one or several baskets in Ross Building and return to the same location on or before Sunday, April 6.
