Traveling Beside Aging Parents With Grace

Growing older is part of life. We know that and yet when an unexpected event happens to our parents related to aging, everything we know can go out the window.

All it takes is a stroke, a hip fracture, a diagnosis of dementia, a car accident, mistaking medications resulting in an ER visit, a fall or any number of common scenarios for what had been smooth sailing to suddenly feel akin to a Class 4 Hurricane.

What can help in the foreign territory of caring for an aging parent, in addition to simply taking a moment to take a breath, is information and a safe, non-judgmental place to ask hard questions.

On April 12 at 6:00 p.m. in Geneva Hall, Liisa Ogburn will provide a short talk on some ways she’s learned to navigate challenging situations as a geriatric care manager; importantly, she will also address your questions in an hour-long program.
