Milestone 2: Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the sign and seal of God's grace and our response. When a child is baptized the parents make promises on the child's behalf until that child is able to confess their own faith in God. In the baptism of a baby or a child we witness the truth that God's love is able to claim us before we can claim God for ourselves. At White Memorial we usually baptize children during a Sunday morning worship service. Prior to the actual Baptism a pastor meets with the family to talk about the meaning of baptism and the logistics of the Sunday morning worship service. Our church family celebrates the baptism of each person by making promises on behalf of the Church universal to support and nurture that person in faith.
Remembrance given at Milestone 2
The Baby's Hug A Bible is presented at Baptism reminding us that God chose us and made us part of God's story.
A cross stitch sampler is created for each baptized child and is delivered at a later date.
"See what love the Father has given us that we should be called children of God; and that is what we are."
