Every Thursday, from 09/07/2017 to 05/31/2018, 10:45 AM - 1:00 PM
Keenagers is a fellowship group sponsored by WMPC and Raleigh Parks and Recreation, and is designed for adults ages 55 plus. Our membership drive is throughout September and there is a $10.00 annual fee to help cover the costs of speakers’ lunches. We meet on Thursdays, September - May. Keenagers begins with an informal coffee and fellowship from 10:15-10:45 a.m. The regular meeting is held from 10:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. (Come around 10:40 a.m. for good parking as most of our Bible studies dismiss around 10:30 a.m.) Each week we begin with a short business meeting followed by a great program and devotional. At noon, we enjoy a hot meal served by the best cooks in Raleigh! The fee for lunch is $5. Usually the group takes a day trip to a place of interest once a month. We will take an overnight trip in the Spring.
January 4 – White Memorial Is Building For the Future
Gary Fulton will talk to us about the plans for construction in 2018 and the ways that construction will unfold in the coming months. Start your new year with a look at the future of this church campus.
January 11 – The Oakwood Project
Oakwood is one of Raleigh, North Carolina’s oldest neighborhoods and the first neighborhood in the state of North Carolina to receive “historic” designation. Over its 140 year history, Oakwood has gone through tremendous change. Church member Liisa Ogburn is the energy behind The Oakwood Project, and she will speak to us about the content and context for this oral history endeavor.
January 18 – Field Trip to the North Carolina Museum of History
Join other Keenagers for a docent-led tour of the World War I exhibit at the Museum. Trace the involvement of North Carolinians in the events of World War I, primarily Belgium and France. We’ll have lunch afterward at Pam’s Farmhouse Restaurant. Trips are limited to 20 people. If you are a member of Keenagers, please reserve at one of the Keenagers meetings.
January 25 – A Taste of North Carolina
Join Keenagers for a unique learning experience about the state that we call home. Mary Esther Baker will introduce you to interesting sites and diverse attractions of North Carolina. We’ll sample native products from around the state.
