Historical And Contemporary Role of Women in Islam: Myths and Facts

The Institute of Islamic and Turkish Studies and Divan Cultural Center invites you to a short lecture on Women in Islam, Sunday, March 24 at 3 p.m., 1391 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC. The talk will address misconceptions about Muslim women by answering the three main questions: Do Muslim women feel oppressed because of religion? Is there inequality between men and women in Islam? How can we explain different verses from Qur’an that appear to place women in an inferior position? Please join us as we celebrate the Women’s History Month 2019! Light refreshments will be served after the program. Guest speaker is Dr. Nuray Yurt, President of the board for Peace Islands Institute in New Jersey where she partners with interfaith organizations to improve local peace within the NJ community.
