Tuesday, April 24, 2018 - Thursday, April 26, 2018
Back by popular demand, our 2018 trip is to the beautiful, historic and elegant Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Since this is a destination trip, we are again offering two ways for WMPC travelers to be a part of our group. Folks may travel with us on our motor coach or drive separately and join us at The Greenbrier as we all enjoy the amenities of this famous landmark hotel. We will be staying at the resort for two nights, so that we have plenty of time to absorb the ambiance of just “being there”! When you enter its grounds you become part of a haven rooted in Southern hospitality and luxury -- basking in the historic architecture, renowned interior design, myriad antiques and priceless art. It is truly like “going on a cruise on land”!
Included in our group package at The Greenbrier are the overnight accommodations (in one of the most comfortable beds ever assembled, immersed in ridiculously high thread-count sheets and cushy, marshmallow-like pillows), two gourmet dinners and two full breakfasts in the formal Main Dining Room, daily afternoon tea, use of the fabulous indoor swimming pool and vintage theater, historic hotel and grounds tours, culinary demonstrations, use of the fitness center, access to the new Casino Club which has been described as “Monte Carlo meeting Gone with the Wind” and all taxes and gratuities.
The Greenbrier has many additional offerings for which travelers should make their own reservations and payments by calling ahead to the hotel at (855) 453-4858. Some of these optional activities include tours of the Bunker (the formerly classified facility for relocating Congress in the event of a national emergency), golf on one of the three championship courses, and luxury treatments in the Five-Star mineral Greenbrier Spa. For further information and beautiful photographs of the whole resort, log onto www.greenbrier.com.
For travelers on our bus, it departs at 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24 from the Dover Road parking lot. We will be having a light breakfast on board as we travel through scenic mountain vistas stopping for lunch (included) at beautiful Pipestem State Park in West Virginia. We continue our travel through more picturesque mountains to The Greenbrier, our ultimate destination -- arriving in time to enjoy its elegant afternoon tea. Dinner each night is in the unbelievably beautiful Main Dining Room (coats and ties for men), where dining is truly an event. In the evenings you are free to enjoy the whole resort – including the Casino.
Wednesday is free for you to explore and experience The Greenbrier and all it has to offer. Our bus will be available if anyone desires to go to Lewisburg, a quaint town nearby which is full of antique shops and historic buildings from both the Revolutionary and Civil Wars. On Thursday, April 26, after another delicious breakfast at the hotel, we will depart the resort in the late morning and head for home, traveling through the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, and stopping for a late lunch (included) at Michie Tavern in Charlottesville. This 1784 inn features a great “Colonial Buffet” – a hearty midday fare offered by servers in period attire in a rustic tavern setting. We plan to arrive back home before 8:00 p.m.
Bus Tour cost for each person: Double $780 | Single $1040 | Triple $700 | Quad $660
